Ideal for demanding mounting tasks including prints onto canvas, mounting canvas to board or mounting onto aluminium sheet.
- Often known simply as ‘5 Layer’ hot mounting film.
- Base 50µ clear film with a 25µ coating of heat activated adhesive on both faces. Both faces are protected with silicone release paper.
- The type of the heat activated adhesive and the thick coating make ‘5 layer’ for bonding textured materials such as MDF, wood, textured papers, plastic, canvas and fabrics. Many have found it works well with aluminium, steel, melamine and similar. Always do thorough surface preparation – use solvent wipes to clean away grease residue. In short, use ‘5 Layer’ on very smooth to very textured surfaces.
- With release papers on each face it is easy to cut to size. When the release papers are peeled back the adhesive has low tack. This allows the film to be positioned in two stages – first on the item to be mounted then onto the mounting board.
- Operating temperature is typically 85°-99°C, and dwell time varies with the items being bonded, but around 3 minutes. Ideal settings will be determined with experience.
- For mounting print to canvas, use a foam blanket to help press the image into the texture.
- Supplied un-pierced. For some applications it should be pierced with a piercing roller.
- Storage: Keep dust-free. Best stored on-end or suspended on bars or suspended in the carton.
